That One Time I was Arrested At A Gig...

DJ Producer extraordinaire Calculations Of here. So by now many of you reading know about my background and know I have traveled all over the nation to perform. For those of you that don't know I've performed for some big companies, festivals, and corporations. For the sake of this story I'm going to leave out some details such as the company I performed for, who I performed with, and the event. The life of the musician can sometimes be painted as very glamorous, and fun. Sometimes it straight up sucks. This is a little bit of both.

A few years back it seemed like I was gone every other weekend flying out or driving for gigs. One day, the artist I DJ'ed for had a request for a very high end gig. This gig was a big deal for me (like all of them), because I wasn't just representing myself (I was representing the artist I DJ'ed for and a whole talent agency). One hint! It was for a VERY reputable luxury car company. I was pumped. I knew this gig was going to be decadent, and it was going to be more fun than work. An agent I never met was there and I wanted to make a good impression. I was nervous I'm not going to lie so I had a "couple" adult beverages.

I don't trust this agent to this day. He was very pushy, and really didn't see the value of me until the artist and myself killed it. Once we were done, yup you guessed it THE TURN UP. There was an open bar, pretty women everywhere, and everyone was treating us like celebrities. I drank more than I should've and I TAKE ALL RESPONSIBILITY for what happened. After going back to our hotel, I forgot my laptop in the car. I proceed to go and get it, and GUESS WHAT! That was the very last thing I remember.

Then BOOM! I wake up in handcuffs. I was arrested for public drunkenness. On the way to get my laptop I blacked out and ended up on another floor napping. So in this holding area I start to freak out a bit. I'm yelling I need to make a phone call, and whatnot. No one answers me, and I don't see anyone until some cop comes and puts me in a back of a transport van. In the van with me were two other guys. Teardrop tattoos, the whole nine yards. We spark up some conversation (by now I calmed down and realized my situation), and they told me they were arrested in a drug bust. I told them what I was arrested for and they laughed. They legit thought I was arrested for some white collar crime.

I was held in Fulton County jail overnight, and thank god my parents bailed me out. Once I got to back to my parents house, I received a STERN talking to. Actually it was more like a thrashing. I had to get a lawyer because my case was bumped up to the state level, and it was just a nightmare to deal with. The moral of the story is always do everything in moderation. I have a drink every now and then, but I try to keep drugs and alcohol away from me as much as I can. The minute you remove drugs and alcohol out of the equation the faster clarity comes in all aspects of your life.
